Who we are

A movement built by refugee women, for refugee women & girls.

Based in Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Isingiro, Uganda, we support young women and girls facing the combined effects of displacement, poverty, gender-based violence, interrupted education, disability and social exclusion.

We don't treat empowerment as a workshop — we treat it as a journey. The SHE-Alters model is a five-pillar pathway from healing to leadership, designed for women who need more than one intervention.

The SHE-Alters Model

Five pillars. One pathway from healing to leadership.

Most programs stop at one intervention. SHE-Alters is sequenced: a woman can enter at any stage, but she never has to leave to find the next one.

The full pathway — every program below connects to one of these five pillars.

Our Programs

Real pathways, designed around real lives.

From safe spaces for survivors to enterprise support, our work meets women and girls where they are — and walks with them toward where they want to go.

SHE-Alters

One pathway. Many next steps.

Healing, purpose, skills and leadership are connected — so progress does not stop after one workshop.
